Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the comments at a meeting with the visiting deputy foreign minister of Iraq Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr AlUloom in Tehran on Sunday.
In the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat evaluated the relations between Iran and Iraq as a great role model for the region and stated that, "The continuous visits and consultations of the high-ranking officials of the two countries and the numerous documents of cooperation concluded between them at various levels and fields show the depth of their friendly relations."
Praising Iraq's leading role in developing stability in the region, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need to strengthen diplomatic and international efforts to deal with the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza.
Evaluating the implementation process of the bilateral security agreement between the two countries as positive, he emphasized the necessity of operationalizing all its terms.
The Iraqi deputy foreign minister, for his part, condemned the 75-year-old occupation of Palestinian land by the Zionist Israeli regime and called for unity among the Palestinians and the integration of the Islamic world in defending Palestine.
