TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (MNA) – The Iranian foreign ministry summoned the Russian Chargé d'affaires in Tehran to lodge a protest against the recent joint statement issued at the 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.

The Russian Chargé d'affaires in Tehran, in the absence of the neighboring country's ambassador, was summoned on Saturday evening by the Assistant Director General of the Persian Gulf Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, and the Islamic Republic of Iran's government strongly protested the repeated support of the Russian government to the baseless claims contained in the statement of 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum held recently in Morocco. A letter of protest was submitted to the Russian side, the foreign ministry of Iran said.

Earlier on Thursday in a statement. the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani rejected and condemned the inclusion of some baseless claims in the 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum statement regarding Iran’s trio islands Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb in the Persian Gulf.
