TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and discussed with Interior Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan Rebar Ahmed Khalid Barzani in Switzerland’s Geneva.

During the Thursday meeting, which was held in the presence of the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other Iranian and Iraqi officials, Amirabdollahian and Khalid Barzani emphasized the depth of close and brotherly ties between Iran and Iraq, expressing satisfaction with the growing cooperation.

Iran’s FM lauded Iraq’s willingness to fully implement a recent security pact between the two countries, underlining the need for turning common border areas into flourishing economic and trade points.

The Iraqi minister, for his part, described the Iran-Iraq relationship as exemplary, noting that the Iraqi side is determined to implement the security agreement.

According to the minister, the two nations pursue the common goal of maintaining security and stability in the West Asia region.
