TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a Pakistani army base in the city of Dera Ismail Khan.

Expressing his condolences to the families of the victims of this terrorist attack, Kan'ani extended condolences and sympathy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the government, army and people of the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan.

At least 23 Pakistani soldiers were killed on Tuesday when militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a security forces' post in restive Khyber-Paktunkhwa province, the Army said, in one of the worst terror attacks targeting security forces in recent years.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Army, six terrorists attacked the security post in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area bordering the South Waziristan tribal district in the early morning hours.

"The attempt to enter the post was effectively thwarted which forced the terrorists to ram an explosive laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing attack.

"The resulting blasts led to the collapse of the building, causing multiple casualties," it said.
