TEHRAN, Dec. 04 (MNA) – A senior official at Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization has announced a significant increase in maritime transport between Tehran and Moscow in recent months.

Khosro Saraei, the director general of the PMO office of transit, logistics, and agreements, was quoted by the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development on Sunday as saying.

Iran has offered an 80-percent discount on the roll-on/roll-off ships to accelerate the process of transport between the two countries, Saraei noted.

Referring to the exchange of delegations between the two countries and the visit of the Russian delegations to the northern and southern Iranian ports, Saraei expressed hope that such exchanges and visits would expand bilateral maritime cooperation.

“Iran’s maritime transport is ready to transit even 20 million metric tons of goods.”
