TEHRAN, Dec. 03 (MNA) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri has commended Iraq's “wise and courageous” positions on the issue of Palestine and the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Sunday in Baghdad.

Iran's top general emphasized that Palestine is the most important issue in the region and the Muslim world, adding that the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, launched by Hamas against the Israeli regime on October 7, has shaken the very foundations of the Zionist regime.

General Bagheri also praised the Iraqi government’s determination to implement a March security agreement with the Islamic Republic to disarm and remove anti-Iranian groups from the common borders.

He added that Iran expects Iraq to vigorously pursue and complete the process of disarming these groups.

General Bagheri also noted that the presence of foreign forces, particularly Americans, was a significant factor in creating insecurity and instability in the region, adding that regional security can only be achieved through cooperation among neighboring countries.

The Iraqi prime minister, for his part, expressed gratitude for Iran's stance on Gaza, and said the war has clearly exposed the true face of the Israeli regime to the world.
