TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) – A policeman was killed with two others injured in a firing incident in the Tank district of Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Sunday.

The incident happened on Saturday night when some unknown militants ambushed a police vehicle and sprayed bullets at it when it passed by the area, the police said in a statement, Xinhua reports.

The attack triggered a gun battle between the police and the terrorists, the statement said, adding that the police had cordoned off the area for investigation after the firing.

The deceased policeman was the station house officer of Tank police station and had survived two terror attacks in the past, the police said.

The injured law enforcers were shifted to a nearby hospital, where both of them are in critical condition.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
