TEHRAN, Nov. 09 (MNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi emphasized the need for increasing efforts to activate the various capacities in Iran and Tajikistan, to raise the level of cooperation as much as possible.

On Wednesday evening in the final part of his travel plans to Tajikistan, Raeisi met with Mahmadtohir Zokirzoda, Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan, and pointed out the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan to strengthen and develop relations in various fields.

Raeisi continued to mention industry, mining, agriculture, oil and gas, water and electricity, technical-engineering services and road construction as suitable fields for the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and added, "Iran and Tajikistan also enjoy the common cultural and historical background, which can play an effective role in transferring this valuable capital to future generations by strengthening cooperation in the field of culture and especially preserving the Persian language".

The President listed the efforts and assistance to settle the situation in Afghanistan and the establishment of a comprehensive government in this country, as well as strengthening the water resources of the two countries in the Friendship Dam, among other areas of cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, and emphasized the importance of the role of the parliaments of the two countries in the implementation of the agreements.

The Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan, for his part, appreciated the positive and constructive approach of Raeisi's government in prioritizing the strengthening of relations with the neighbors and described the increase of economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations as beneficial and effective in securing the interests of the two nations and the two countries.

Mahmadtohir Zokirzoda also referred to the membership of Iran and Tajikistan in regional organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and emphasized the need to take advantage of this opportunity for the economic development and progress of the two countries.
