TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister says putting an immediate end to Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and delivering of humanitarian aid are urgent priorities given the critical situation in the besieged Strip.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a telephone conversation with  Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf late on Thursday.

Amir-Abdollahian said Muslim countries must ramp up their diplomatic consultations to stop the Israeli regime's crimes against the Palestinian civilians and the defenseless people of Gaza.

He reiterated Iran’s policy on the issue of Palestine and its unwavering support for Palestinians and added that the Iranian Red Crescent Society is ready to send food and medicine to Gaza through Egypt.

Israel's deadly bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip follows Operation al-Aqsa Storm of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement on October 7.

The unprecedented Palestinian operation, according to resistance groups, came in response to months-long desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque and increased Israeli violence against Palestinians. The Israeli forces and settlers killed more than 200 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the start of 2023.

More than 4,100 Palestinians, mainly civilians, have been killed across the Gaza Strip in Israeli bombardments, according to figures from the health ministry in the besieged coastal strip. Nearly 13,500 have also been injured.

According to Press TV, the Algerian foreign minister, for his part, said the current situation in Palestine is the outcome of the failure of political proposals to help Palestinians achieve their legitimate right of having an independent country.

Attaf also urged a stop to the violence against the innocent Palestinian civilians and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to people in the Gaza Strip.
