TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – The Iranian President says that the measures the Zionist regime is taking during its ongoing war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amount to war crimes and genocide, and are blatant violations of international treaties.

Ebrahim Raeisi made the remarks in a phone conversation with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Saturday night.

Referring to the inhumane crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, the President emphasized the need to stop the war crimes and genocide machine of this regime as soon as possible and said, “The statements and actions of the Zionist leaders in recent days are a clear example of war crimes, genocide and a clear violation of all international treaties."

Raeisi stated that the root of the recent actions of the Palestinian warriors is the continuation of 75 years of occupation, the humiliation of the dignity and the desecration of the sanctity of the Muslim and oppressed Palestinian people, adding, “The leaders of the Zionist regime cut off water and electricity, prevented the entry of food and medicine, and used prohibited weapons like phosphorous bombs, they seek to avenge their humiliating and historic defeat on the battlefield, on the defenceless people of Gaza."

The President stated that today the new generation of Palestinians, after decades of crime, killing and destruction, have risen to demand their violated rights more seriously than ever, and clarified, “The Zionists and their supporters should know that if oppression and aggression could have silenced the Palestinians' demand for rights, this would have happened in the last 75 years."

Raeisi called the United States and other supporters of the Zionist regime directly responsible for the crimes of this regime and pointed out that the situation in Palestine is clear proof of the contradictory and double standard of the Westerners in the claim of defending human rights. Operation Al-Aqsa Flood showed that no order in the region can be achieved without taking into account the rights of the Palestinian nation and the crimes committed by the Zionists against these people must be pursued in the international forums.

The Emir of Qatar, for his part, pointed out that the relations between the two countries are at the highest level today, and emphasised the need for cooperation between the two countries in immediately stopping the crimes of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Gaza and also the rights of the Palestinians.

He stated that in recent years there has been a widespread awakening in the world and the region and the free people of the world give the right to the Palestinians in the Palestinian conflict, and said, “Western media try to reflect the images of regional developments wrongly and in reverse, and we must try to show the real images to the world."

Emphasizing that stability in the region will not be achieved without upholding the rights of the Palestinian nation, he said, “Today, all the people of the world clearly see the disastrous behaviour of the Zionist regime, and one of the latest examples of this behaviour is the attempt to displace a part of the Palestinian nation from their homes."
