TEHRAN, Sep. 27 (MNA) – Foreign participants of the 37th International Islamic Unity Conference are to meet the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei soon, Iran's World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said.

Hujjat al-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks in a press conference ahead of the Islamic Unity Week that will kick off tomorrow. Islamic Unity Week refers to a ceremony held every year both by Sunnis and Shia. The event is held between two dates of the birthday of the holy prophet Muhammad. One of the dates is narrated by Sunnis and the other is narrated by Shia.

Some 120 distinguished speakers from foreign countries and other 120 domestic thinkers are to deliver speeches in the event, he said.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will receive the participants of the conference on October 3, he added.

As many as 205 papers from 20 countries have been sent to the secretariat of the conference, he pointed out.

The purpose of the conference is to create unity and solidarity among Muslims, develop consensus among scholars and scientists to approximate their scientific and cultural viewpoints and present practical solutions in order to reach Islamic Unity and Unified Islamic Ummah in the Islamic World and solve the problems of Muslims and presenting solutions for them.

Conference guests are chosen from among the elites and educated figures, the ministers of Muslim countries, scholars and muftis, university professors, and other academic and cultural communities inside and outside the country.

The 37th International Islamic Unity Conference is slated to be held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran from September 28 to October 3, 2023.
