TEHRAN, Oct. 4 (Mehr News Agency) -- A Tajik press and cultural delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday to discuss media cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan.

The delegation includes Umed Babakhanov, the director of the Tajik news agency Asia Plus, Akbar Sattorov the director of Charkhi Gardun media, Mukhtar Baqizadeh, the director of the Center for Defending Tajik Reporters and three editors in chief of Tajik newspapers.

 

According to the Iranian cultural attaché in Tajikistan, Mohammadreza Toussi, the delegation has been invited by the General Press Office of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The delegation has been scheduled to meet officials of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

 

The delegation will also be visiting Iranian state TV and radio studios and several historical sites and cultural centers in Tehran and Isfahan.

 

Mukhtar Baqizadeh, the editor in chief of the Tajik magazine Niruyi Sukhan, said that the delegation hopes to share experiences with members of the Iranian media and commented on Iran’s illustrious cultural and media traditions.

 

He announced his country's interest in increasing cultural and media cooperation with Iran and expressed hope that their visit would prepare the ground for further cooperation.

 

Sattorov cited the affinities between the Iranian and Tajik nations, saying, “The young and newly established Tajik media need the support of Iranians in information dissemination."
