TEHRAN October 1 (Mehr News Agency) -- Director General of Kerman Cultural Heritage Department announced that the ancient Shafi'abad Castle will soon be hosting tourists who have a passion for desert adventurism.

“With this end in mind, our experts have renovated the ceilings, mosque, and rooms of the castle," Fakour Pas said

"They have diverted the Shafi'abad's aqueduct toward the castle in order to create a green space with plants growing in arid climate," added Pas.

The 4,000 square meter castle dates back to the Qajar era (1794-1925). It had a significant part to play in the trade between Shahdad and Khorasan Province. It is located in Shahdad District 100km off northeastern Kerman.
