TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Ash Carter, ex-Pentagon chief under the Obama administration, has died at the age of 68, medis reported on Tuesday.

During his tenure, Carter pushed for extending the US’ illegal military presence in Syria and boosting aid to Ukraine, Sputnik news agency reported.

Carter was responsible for a number of airstrikes on Syria, including the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid, which killed 50 Syrian Army and allied troops.
