The financing is set at 7,000 billion rials and heavy ethylene unit is expected to come on stream before 2009, said Farmahini Farahani adding the installation and commissioning of equipment are the lengthy part of the business, calling for 4,500 people.
“Some 1,200 will directly be working at production stage,” he stipulated.
The IPC’s annual production will include 50,000 tons of ethylene, 98,000 tons of propylene, 138,000 tons of benzene pyrolysis, and 43,000 tons of furnace oil, said the managing director, explaining the olefin plant is projected to supply the heavy polyethylene with 500,000 tons of annual feedstock.
“The engineering design is to be implemented by the British company Aston & Webster and the rest of the contract valued at €215 million is fully given to an Iranian firm, Bina Engineering Consulting Company,” he pointed out.
The complex aims to create job opportunities, optimize Ilam Gas Refinery’s products to increase the value-added output, and develop downstream industries.
