TEHRAN, May 9 (MNA) -- Iranian and foreign researchers of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh are to gather in Shiraz and Mashhad on the eve of Ferdowsi National Day (May 15) to participate in an international seminar of Shahnameh research texts.

 

The director of the Persian Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) said that the Shahnameh and its profound influence on the country’s literature will be discussed during the two-day event.

 

Ali-Asghar Mohammad-Khani said that the first session of the seminar will be held on May 13 in Shiraz, supervised by Mansur Rastgar Fasaii, and the second session will be held the next day in Mashhad and Tus, supervised by Jafar Yahaqi.

 

Ferdowsi National Day will also be celebrated in 30 countries through the cooperation of Iran’s cultural offices, he added.

 

Jalal Khaleqi Motlaq from Germany, Mahmud Omid-Salar from the United States, Mohammad Nuri Osmanov from Russia, as well as Iranians Saeid Hamidian, Iraj Afshar, Azizollah Joveini, and Abolfazl Khatibi are among the participants.

 

The seminar is being cosponsored by ICRO, Hafez University of Shiraz, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the Ferdowsi Cultural Center, and the Persian Literature and Language Development Council, Mohammad-Khani explained.
