TEHRAN, Apr. 23 (MNA) -- An exhibition of paintings, photographs, and maquettes created by 12 Swiss artists opened at the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art on April 22, the Persian service of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Sunday.

The exhibition is being held during the year that Isfahan is the official Cultural Capital of Islam and can reinforce social and cultural bonds between the two nations, Isfahan Mayor Morteza Saqqaiannejad said during the opening ceremony, which was attended by Swiss Ambassador Philippe Welti and several Iranian artists.

Saqqaiannejad noted that Isfahan plays a very important role in developing cultural relations with other countries due to its significant history and culture.

The Swiss ambassador to Iran said that Switzerland is honored to hold such exhibitions in the Cultural Capital of Islam.

“Isfahan is a gift to the world, since it enjoys great cultural and artistic capacities,” he added.

“Most people imagine Switzerland as a peaceful country with reliable banks. However, we have tried to show a different angle of the country at this event,” he said.
