The MPs pursuing the impeachment plan are mainly from the Majlis minority faction, according to the source.
However, over the past few days, particularly since the developments in Semirom in which some people from the region were killed and injured, some independent deputies and even some parliamentarians belonging to the 2nd Khordad faction have expressed their willingness to join the plan, the source added.
Majlis Speaker Hojatoleslam Mahdi Karrubi, who is aware of the impeachment plan, is trying to convince the lawmakers that questioning the interior minister would be sufficient, the source said.
Karrubi said that, given the current situation, the interpolate would only aggravate tensions and be a wastage of time of the Sixth Majlis during its busy final months, according to the source.
"In my view, the impeachment plan is not in line with the country's interests. However, I have always defended the deputies’ basic rights," the source said.
