The managing director of IranTour Travel Agency, Rashid Bahram-Shahri, the manager of Russia’s Shambala Travel, Irina Sosnovskaya, and representatives of Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO) were among the participants.
Bahram-Shahri expressed hope that bilateral cooperation on tourism would be developed and called for government support to remove the existing obstacles.
Sosnovskaya also expressed satisfaction about her visit to Iran and stated that the problem of issuing visas for tourists and the limitations in facilities for foreign tourists are some of the obstacles.
Despite the negative propaganda about Iran, Iran is a safe country and enjoys great potential in the area of tourism, she added.
The CHTO official in charge of compiling technical standards, Ali Rahimpur, said that Russia is one of Iran’s tourism targets, and added that one-week visas are currently being issued at the airports of Tehran (Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini), Kish, Isfahan, and Shiraz and that those airports will begin issuing 15-day visas in the next few days.
The Russian delegation arrived in Tehran last week and will leave Tehran today/tomorrow.
