Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator made the remarks in an interview with Japanese Kyodo news agency, a few days following his visit to Brussels as part of an Iranian nuclear delegation to attend the 3rd High-Level EU-Iran Seminar on International Nuclear Cooperation.
Araghchi said that the new initiatives and solutions that the Europeans are working on have to do with the managing and registering of the promised Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
He stressed that Iran and other parties need to save the JCPOA, while noting that the nuclear deal’s economic benefits for Iran have significantly reduced.
He warned that if the situation persists, the JCPOA will reach its end and the European efforts to preserve it will be rendered futile.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister also said that Iran has lost its confidence in the United States, adding that there is no chance for new talks, and that Washington must first adhere to its previous commitments.
During the interview, he also expressed his appreciation to Japan for its support for JCPOA, calling for continuation of Tokyo's oil imports despite US pressures.
Moreover, Araghchi said that the US attempts to cut Iran’s oil sales to zero have proved to be futile, underlining that Iran will continue its oil exports.
