Ardashir Noorian, the head of the Defense Committee of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission at Iranian Parliament told IRNA news agency that a working group, of which he is a member, will be formed by the Commission to find solutions to the problems with the CFT that the Guardian could find with the CFT bill. Noorian said that the formation of the working group will be discussed at the Commission this coming Tuesday.
He said that last Sunday, a meeting to discuss the CFT bill was held at the Parliament, which was attended by ministers of foreign affairs, intelligence, representatives of the Expediency Council and Guardian Council, as well as the deputy speaker of Parliament and some other lawmakers.
The member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission further divided the CFT flaws as they were raised by the Guardian Council into two groups of procedural and substantive.
The lawmaker explained that the flaws pointed out by the Guardian Council were mostly procedural rather than substantive.
He added that the solutions have been found to half of the CFT procedural terms which will be examined in Tuesday’s session of the Commission.
The lawmaker pointed out that 11 substantive flaws were raised because they were against the constitution and the Sharia law.
Moreover, he said that a working group will be built by the Commission to discover appropriate legal, political and security solutions and address the flaws.
While lawmakers at Iranian Parliament had approved the CFT bill, the Guardian Council, which is empowered to vet legislation, returned it for further amendments.
