TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament said that Iran’s non-oil trade with Iraq equals that of 28 European countries, stressing on the role of borders in economic development.

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh made the remarks Saturday in the ‘1st International Congress on Security, Progress and Sustainable Development of Border and Metropolitan Areas; Strategies and Challenges’ underway in Tehran.

Also touching upon the high volume of non-oil trades with Afghanistan, he added that in current circumstances, many products that Iran cannot import from Europe are now available in borders.

“I believe that if security is established at borders and the economy of these regions booms, many of the problems caused by US sanctions will be solved.”
