TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – The young Iranian basketball players have defeated Kazakhstan in their second match in the FIBA U18 Asian Championships to get a step closer to regain the title.

The 25th edition of FIBA U18 Asian Championship kicked off on August 5 in Thailand and will continue until August 11.

The national U18 Iranian team started the tournament with beating Indonesia 80-85 yesterday.

On the second day of the competitions, which was held in the Thai capital Bangkok, the young Iranian basketball players defeated the Central Asian country of Kazakhstan 86 to 54.

Iran is pitted in Group A along with Japan, Kazakhstan and Indonesia.

In their third match, the Iranians will take on Japan, the vice champion in the former edition of the championships after Iran.

Top four team of the tournament will earn the ticket to 2019 FIBA U19 World Championships.
