According to the Public Relations Department of Iran’s Wushu Federation, 2018 FISU World University Wushu Championships kicked off on Thursday with the participation of 250 wushu practitioners from 26 countries in the Chinese city of Macau, and wrapped up today.
On the final day of the tournament, all four Iranian Sanshou practitioners who had reached the final matches in both girls and boys divisions, overcame their opponents to win four gold medals for Iran.
With the four gold medals, the Iranian students wushu team finally clinched the title in wushu Sanshou competitions, while in both taolu and Sanshou competitions the Iranian students became vice champion after the host country China.
This is the first time Iranian students wushu team wins a valuable title on the world stage.
China became the champion with 6 gold medals, while Malaysian students took the third place with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronzes.
The Iranian students who collected four gold medals were Zohreh Shahpiri (girls Sanshou -60kg), Alireza Reiki (Sanshou -60kg), Hamid Reza Sahandi(Sanshou 70kg) and Amir Karimi (Sanshou 80.)
