TEHRAN, Aug. 02 (MNA) – Iranian MP Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh called for closer Tehran-Moscow cooperation against the US measures regarding the two countries.

Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, met and held talks with Chairman of the Russian Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky in Tehran on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Iranian MP censured US President Donald Trump’s destructive approach in the region and the world aimed at serving Washington’s illegitimate interests, adding “Iran-Russia cooperation on promoting peace and security in the region and across the world will stop the continuation of US’ unilateral and destructive behavior.”

Falahatpisheh then noted the US lack of commitment to the Iran nuclear deal, saying “Trump’s withdrawal from the international agreement was a huge mistake that brought about a massive wave of condemnation by other countries.”

The Russian official, for his part, condemned the US measures aimed at increasing pressure against Iran and Russia through imposing unilateral sanctions, saying that such measures are the continuation of the country’s wrong and futile past policies. He maintained that developing cooperation between Tehran and Moscow will defeat Washington’s wrong policies.

He also censured US’ pullout from the nuclear deal and stressed his country’s all-out support to Iran.
