TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) –The Iranian national team of freestyle wrestling finished second at the end of the Yasar Dogu Free-Style Wrestling International Tournament in Turkey on Sunday.

Wining 3 gold and 3 silver medals, the Iranian freestyle wrestlers finished second at the Yasar Dogu Free-Style Wrestling International Tournament in the Turkish port city of Istanbul with a total point of 146.

Mohammad Bagher Yakhkeshi, Mehran Nasiri, and Mohammad Javad Ebrahimi snatched the gold medals of their weight categories while Alireza Karimi, Mojtaba Goleij, and Yadollah Moheb fell in their final bouts and brought home three silver medals.

Yadollah Mohebi, the Iranian wrestler in the 125 kilogram weight class, who had defeated Turkey’s Huseyin Civelek in the semi-final, was overwhelmed by his Ukrainian opponent Khotsianivskyi 9-6 in the final contest, and got the silver.

Mojtaba Goleij was upended by his Azerbaijani opponent Aslanbek Alborov 0-10 in the 97-kilogram final bout, and bagged the silver.

Mohammadbagher Yakhkeshi defeated Sandeep Tomar from India and won the gold medal in 61 kilogram class.

Mehran Nasiri Afrachali defeated Ali Rahimzada from Azerbaijan to claim the gold medal of 65 kilogram division.

Mohammadjavad Ebrahimi Zivlaei defeated his compatriot Alireza Karimi Machiani and the Iranian shared the medals of the final match of the 92 kilogram division.

The 46th edition of Yasar Dogu Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling Tournament kicked off on July 27 in Turkish port city of Istanbul, and came to an end on Sunday July 29, 2018. The competitions were held at the Bagcilar Olimpic Sports Hall.
