Speaking to Fars News Agency on Saturday, Bahram Ghasemi stressed that Iran and Germany’s economic relations are progressing at a normal pace, adding “the German delegation at Vienna’s [Joint Commission’s meeting on Friday] discussed ways to find more proper mechanisms to increase economic cooperation and banking relations between the two countries [after the US unlawful pullout from the nuclear deal].”
Ghasemi then voiced regret over the circulation of rumors in the past few weeks concurrent with the start of negotiations between Iran and the five remaining parties to the JCPOA, saying the rumors were an act of propaganda and psychological warfare aimed at undermining Iran’s relations with European countries, waged by some trans-regional states and anti-Iran hostile groups.
The Iranian diplomat, while dismissing as completely untrue the rumors on German government's seizure of a portion of Iran's foreign exchange assets due to new US sanctions, urged vigilance and perceptiveness to counter such acts of propaganda at the time Iran and EU are seeking ways to expand economic cooperation.
