Laya Joneydi, who is Hassan Rouhani’s law adviser, met with Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok, during which she described Iran’s nuclear activities as completely peaceful, criticizing US unlawful withdrawal from the nuclear deal known the JCPOA.
Joneydi said that Iran will remain committed to the JCPOA as long as it benefits from it otherwise the deal cannot continue.
She said that Iran is expecting European countries’ practical steps within the framework of the JCPOA and provide Iran with guarantees to secure its interests.
Iranian president special envoy to the JCPOA said that the JCOPA is a UN-backed credible agreement that must be respected by every side, adding the US after its illegal withdrawal cannot be trusted to negotiate with by anyone.
Stef Blok, for his part, expressed his regret over the US withdrawal from the JCPOA, stressing that all the parties must remain committed to the deal and respect international agreements.
The Dutch foreign minister further said “we, as well as other European countries, are working on how to keep the JCPOA alive,” acknowledging that securing Iran’s interest in the deal with sanctions in place is not possible.
