TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) -– The giant water transfer project of Shadegan in Khuzestan Province involves transferring 9,000 cubic meters of water daily from Shushtar, via Ahvaz-Abadan line, to Shadegan region. The project is to be inaugurated by November 2005 by the Minister of Energy Parviz Fattah, executive manager of Khuzestan Water and Sewage Company Ahmad Sayahi said on Sunday.

The project employs a water transfer line (at the length of 25 km) with a diameter of 300 mm. A high pressure pump house in Darkhowein, a reservoir with a volume of 3,000 cubic meters and a pumping station in Shadegan as well as a building for chemicals and chlorination will treat and provide the needed water for the region. At the moment, only 2 km of waterline remains to be completed, Sayahi elaborated.

 

The water and sewage company in the province is the administrator and in charge of water and sewage plans and operations in villages surrounding the city of Ahvaz. According to law, the water and sewage operations in rural areas should be regulated by the Rural Water and Sewage Companies, of which, 8 cities (Minushahr, Qalehtel, Qaleh Khajeh, Dehdaz and 4 others) will be turned over to the rural companies soon, he added.
