TEHRAN, May 11 (MNA) – Christopher Mutsvangwa, special adviser to Zimbabwean president, told Iranian ambassador to Harare that his country is willing to receive help by Iranian companies in areas of energy and information technology.

“Our friendly ties with Tehran date back to the time of liberating campaigns in Zimbabwe and we can take advantage of these bilateral friendly relations as a support for developing relations and cooperation in diverse areas,” said Christopher Mutsvangwa, special advisor to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday.

The Zimbabwean politician made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Harare, Ahmad Erfanian.

Mnangagwa called for Iranian companies’ contribution to energy and information technology sectors in his country.

The Iranian envoy to Harare, for his part in this meeting, referred to the friendly ties between the two countries and voiced Iran’s readiness to expand relations with Zimbabwe in all areas, especially in economy and trade.

“Currently, Iranian companies are active in Zimbabwe in various projects related to power plants, textile and paint industries, as well as transit,” said Mr. Erfanian adding that, “Iran’s export to Zimbabwe saw a three-fold increase in the last [Iranian fiscal] year.”
