TEHRAN, May 09 (MNA) – Chief of General Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri said JCPOA was not a favorable choice for the Islamic Republic, adding “Iran signed the accord to prove its goodwill to the international community.”

Speaking during a local ceremony on Wednesday, Major General Bagheri expressed regret over US violation of international commitments, saying “the arrogance did not abide by its obligations under the deal it had signed before.”

Pointing to Saudi Arabia’s recent efforts against Iran, Bagheri said “in the last three months, the young, unwise Saudi ruler has been working with the United States to provoke them against Iran saying “you attack Iran we will pay for it;” however, Bagheri added, “they will not dare to enter Iran’s soil.”

Bagheri quoted US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis as saying “since Trump has taken office, he has repeatedly pushed me to prepare for an invasion on Iran.” Bagheri added that the US Army has prevented US unwise president from attacking Iran, warning him of unfortunate consequences of war with Iran.

“When enemies felt they could not launch military invasion on Iran, they resorted to the economic war,” he noted, adding “Leader of Islamic Revolution has said current war against the Islamic establishment is of economic nature and the US Department of the Treasury acts as the base for the war against Iran.”

Bagheri underlined that "Iranian nation should be aware that if we want to grow, we should stand on our own feet to move towards self-sufficiency."
