TEHRAN, Apr. 19 (MNA) – Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support, Brigadier General Amir Hatami, told Faleh Fayyad, the Iraqi National Security Advisor, that he is proud of the fact that Iran stood beside Iraq in war against the ISIL.

“I am proud of Iran being full-heartedly along with Iraqi nation and government in the war against terrorism and the helps of Iran will continue till the full eradication of this criminal group,” said Brigadier General Amir Hatami, Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support, on Thursday.

The Iranian official made the remarks during a meeting with Faleh Fayyad, the Iraqi National Security Advisor and the envoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

“We firmly believe that the Iraqi territories should not be used as a battlefront between the countries of the region with competing interests, and that is why the Islamic Republic of Iran categorically opposed any military operation in the northern Iraq and we hold that the national sovereignty of Iraq should be respected,” asserted the Iranian defense minister.

Faleh Fayyad, in this meeting, for his part, voiced content with Brig. General Hatami’s visit to Iraq and voiced hope that the bilateral talks pave the ground for more interactions and technical interactions.
