The 23rd Meeting of Council of Ministers (COM), as the highest policy and decision-making body of ECO, kicked off in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe on Tuesday.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Iranian top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with his Tajik counterpart Sirodjidin Mukhridinovich Aslov on Tuesday, conferring on bilateral ties, implementation of agreements reached during the visit of Tajikistan’s president to Tehran, as well as regional issues.
Zarif had also met with the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon following his arrival in Dushanbe on Monday, during which they discussed the numerous commonalities between the two countries and stressed the need to forge closer cooperation and relations in different political, economic cultural areas as well as energy and technology.
Also on Tuesday, Zarif met with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Raşit Meredow and touched upon expansion of bilateral ties and called for implementation of agreements reached previously between the two sides.
They also discussed the current developments in the region, as well as the topics discussed during today's ECO meeting.
