Larijani is accompanied by a delegation comprising a number of Iranian lawmakers for this two-day visit. Delivering a speech at the conference and holding talks with a number of participating officials are on Larijani’s agenda.
According to State Duma Vice Speaker Neverov, lawmakers from 44 countries will attend the event, which comprises a plenary conference meeting in the course of the morning, at which State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the heads of the member states’ parliaments and the chairmen of relevant committees will speak. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, and Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova will also attend the conference.
The conference will be followed in three sections in the afternoon. The first one will be devoted to the improvement of anti-drug laws and the second, to drug addiction and modern approaches to rehabilitation, while the third section will focus on the role of non-profit organizations in the war on drugs, according to TASS.
The Moscow Declaration of Inter-Parliamentary Anti-Drug Cooperation is also expected to be signed at the conference.
On the sidelines of the event, the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of Iran and Russia will also hold discussion on topics of mutual interest.
