TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – In the joint meeting of the members of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission with ministry of defense officials the parties discussed Iran’s defensive abilities.

In the joint meeting which was held between Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and the defense minister and the CEOs of its affiliated organizations, the stress was laid on increasing the defensive abilities with respect to the threats posed by the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The minister of defense referred to the regional upheavals and said “the Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted a deterrence policy, and is not felt pressured by any foreign threats or sanctions. We know how to adapt ourselves to the world geopolitics and take measures accordingly.”

Asserting that Iran’s great defensive power has been implicitly recognized by the US, he said “the Islamic Republic of Iran has gained a great strategic defensive power. Today, we can counter domestic and foreign threats against Iran categorically.”

Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that all the components of Iran’s strategic defense has been attained through the efforts of Iranian specialists and the enemy is aware of such ability, and added “the enemy has imposed sanctions on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, our defensive powers and missile technology in order to debilitate us.”

The minister of defense thanked the parliament for passing countering American threat act.

He presented a full report on the activities of the ministry of defense and said “today, we have laid our focus on increasing our defensive powers against the threats posed by the enemy and we express hope that we can attain our stated objective in collaboration with Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.”

For his part, the chairman of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi announced the active support given by the Parliament and the Committee for the strategic defense measures and said “launching joint military exercises between Iranian armed forces and other Muslim countries should be on our list of priorities.”
