During his stay in Iran, WCO’s Secretary General, Kunio Mikuriya, will meet and hold talks with Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance (MEAF) Masoud Karbasian, Deputy Minister of MEAF and President of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Forod Asgari, and also Gholam-Hossein Shafiei, the Chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
Familiarity with IRICA’s salient achievements and progresses in the field of electronic customs (e-customs), capabilities of Integrated Comprehensive Customs System (ICCS) and Cross-Border Single-Window Trade have been cited as one of the important goals behind travel of SCO’s secretary general to Iran.
These aforementioned achievements are considered as the most important customs developments in all-time history of IRICA.
Earlier, IRICA’s online evaluation plan, which has been implemented within the framework of ICCS, had been introduced by WCO as a top model to all customs offices as members of this Organization throughout the world.
With the coordination made in this regard, WCO’s secretary general would be briefed on the latest achievements of IRICA in the field of combating drug and goods smuggling as well as inauguration of center to train drug sniffer dogs, the report added.
According to the evaluation made by World Customs Organization (WCO), IRICA has been known as top customs in the world in the field of anti-drug campaign.
It is worth mentioning that IRICA has managed to stand at 2nd rank in the world in the field of combating goods smuggling, the report ended.
