Iran’s four national teams, comprised of Women and Men in two age groups of youth and adult left Tehran for Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on Sunday November 4.
Asian Canoeing Championships is a canoeing championship organized by the Asian Canoe Confederation for competitors from Asian countries. The competitive tournaments are held in three categories of Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom and Canoe Polo.
Canoe Polo combines canoeing and ball handling skills with a contact team game. In this match, tactic and positional play are as important as the speed and fitness of the individual athletes. The game is very team-based and requires canoeing competence and a series of other techniques which are exclusive to the sport.
It is worth noting that Iran’s women teams have been quite successful in the years spanning from 2005 to 2013 as they managed to win first place for five consecutive rounds.
The 2017 Asian Canoeing Championships is set to kick off on November 8 which will run through November 12.
