Speaking at a press conference following his Friday meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Lebanese Republic Gebran Bassil in Beirut, Velayati described the session as positive and constructive adding “ever since Gebran Basil has taken office, Lebanese foreign policy has become more active and vital.”
He went on to underscore that “stabilizing achievement of the Resistance Movement in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon requires diplomatic efforts and diplomatic measures will complete Jihadi actions taken by the Resistance Movement fighters in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria in recent months.”
Velayati also described recent diplomatic developments including the trilateral Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan Summit, Iraqi PM’s visit to Iran and presence of Hamas delegation in Tehran as moves compatible with the diplomatic attempts made to establish achievements in the battlefields.
In response to a question whether Vladimir Putin’s visit to Tehran took place in line with strengthening the Resistance Movement, he said “the Russian government and President Assad have undoubtedly played a major role in recent accomplishments of the Resistance Front.”
The advisor to the Iranian Leader, while referring to flying of the Russian jet fighters over Iranian and Iraqi airspaces to destroy Takfiri groups’ positions in Syria concurrent with Putin’s presence in Tehran, concluded that the issue was a clear sign of proximity between Iran and Russia in the fight against terrorism.
