TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) – Spokesman of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) criticized media and leaders of Democratic Party of Iraqi Kurdistan noting that certain satellite networks sought to hide the referendum’s failure.

Sadi Ahmed Pira, a spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, made the remarks at a press conference held minutes ago.

Touching upon harsh attack by media channels of Iraqi Kurdistan’s Democratic Party who accuse PUK of being a betrayer, the official explained that two satellite networks of the Democratic party were modifying recent facts and realities of Kirkuk and are seeking to cover up defeat of the referendum by slamming Peshmerga forces and blaming them for the attack.

Ahmed Pira went on to state that “return of the Iraqi army is likely to have been done in coordination with the United States and Europe, because they were also against the referendum.”

Also, Ostad Rasoul, a well-known PUK commander in Kirkuk, announced that withdrawal from several locations in Kirkuk was carried out at order of KRG President, Masoud Barzani, and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Peshmerga commander for south Kirkuk, Sheikh Ja'far Mustafa.

It is worth noting that yesterday, a joint meeting was held between the two powerful Kurdish parties in Kurdistan and according to news reports from the KRG media, both sides agreed to allow the Iraqi army to return to the 2014 regions in a bid to restart negotiations with Baghdad.

Presently, Kurdish Democratic Party of Iraq now denies such news and accuses Kurdish Peshmerga of treason.
