The 64th meeting of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean is slated to convene in Pakistan’s Islamabad from October 9 to 12.
In addition to delivering a speech at the regional event, Iran’s Hashemi will also meet and talk with his Pakistani counterpart Saira Afzal Tarar.
The Iranian health minister, in the course of his two-day visit to the neighboring country, is slated to hold important meetings with health ministers of Qatar, Oman, Iraq and Morocco.
Moreover, Hashemi will attend a joint meeting with Mahmoud Fikri, Director General of WHO’s Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean.
With over 250 public health representatives and experts in attendance, the event is expected to discuss major public health priorities for countries of the region.
During the health extravaganza in Pakistan, the Regional Committee will also endorse a proposed updated framework for action on climate change and healthcare.
