TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) – The Research and Innovation department of European Commission expressed interest in cooperating with Iran in the area of Nano security.

This new development came about during the two-day event called Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies (LEIT) which is one of the events of EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation, taking place in Belgium.

According to the Presidential Deputy for Science and Technology, the LEIT was held on October 3 and 4 attended by more than 1400 people from across the world. The LEIT, covering different areas including Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Processing and Biotechnology, is a part of horizon 2020.

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation Program ever with nearly 80 billion euros of funding. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.

One of the parts of the event was “cooperation with other countries” in which representatives from Iran, Japan, Canada, Mexico and Thailand had participated. The secretary of center for nanotechnology development of Presidential Deputy for Science and Technology Saeed Sarkar was present in the session.

Considering the activities and achievements of center for nanotechnology development in Nano security, the Research and Innovation department of European Commission officially announced their interest in working with Iran on Nano security.
