“Trump’s fake empathy for Iranians rings ever more hollow, with his new and even more offensive travel ban against such outstanding citizens.” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a tweet on Sunday.
Zarif was reacting to the new travel restrictions announced by the Trump administration on Sunday, which included nationals from Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen, as replacement to its controversial travel ban signed earlier this year.
The new restrictions, which were issued after the previous 90-day ban expired on Sunday, have excluded Sudan and added nationals from North Korea, Chad and Venezuela to the list. The new order will take effect on October 18.
