TEHRAN, Sep. 17 (MNA) – Senior Adviser to Iran's Leader Ali Akbar Velayati told the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, Siegfried Bracke that Iran and Belgium enjoy great friendly ties.

“In these meetings, the bilateral ties which have roots in the depths of history and started from 200 years ago were touched upon,” said Ali Akbar Velayati, the Head of Strategic Research Center at Iran’s Expediency Council, on Sunday, saying that he had had constructive talks with the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, Siegfried Bracke.

He made the remarks among the reporters after his meeting with the Belgian official, “the ties between the two countries have always been positive and the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives also voiced his country’s willingness for expanding ties with Iran.”

“Our positions along with the position of the Europan Union are totally different from the positions taken by those from the other side of the Atlantic [the US],” said the Iranian official referring to the implementation of the JCPOA, “if they are uncertain about implementing the JCPOA, we hold no doubt and our position is independent.”

 “The two countries of Iran and Belgium are after peaceful ways in the region, Syria, Iraq and other areas,” asserted the Iranian official, “and we believe that a joint war on terror, which is a global threat, should be staged.”
