TEHRAN, Sep. 13 (MNA) – Iraqi MP Abdul Rahman Al Luaizi believes that, given the great dangers of establishing a Kurdish government, Baghdad possess the right to sue against Iraqi Kurdistan in the United Nation Security Council (UNSC).

in an interview with Mehr News Agency, Al Luaizi said the issue of holding a referendum on independence of the Iraqi Kurdistan region from the central government of Baghdad was completely illegal. “Accordingly, the issue remains a political crisis. So far, a number of decisive positions have been taken regarding these illegal actions.”

“The Baghdad government can legally take the case to the United Nations Security Council to sue the Kurdistan region. The referendum has provoked anger on some governments, including the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey, and has adverse implications in addition to dangerous consequences. That is why the government of Baghdad can sue Erbil in the UN Security Council according to the law,” said the official.

He later underscored that the Zionist regime was the only party to have supported the separation of the Kurdish region from Baghdad.

“The position taken by the Zionist regime will not change anything since Israelis can never regain their lost legitimacy,” stated the Iraqi MP.
