TEHRAN, Sep. 09 (MNA) – Iranian President Rouhani called upon the Islamic countries to stop acting indifferently toward the humanitarian crisis happening in Myanmar.

“The issue of Myanmar is a huge humanitarian catastrophe,” asserted President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran, “it is an ethnic and ideological cleansing which has displaced hundreds of thousands of Muslims and killed a huge number of them.”

The Iranian top executive made the remark before leaving Tehran for Astana. He recounted that on the sideline of OIC summit of science and technology in Astana a meeting will be held to review the situation in Myanmar. “While the Islamic world is unfortunately grappling with many issues around the world, that is a humanitarian crisis.”

“The Islamic world cannot be indifferent to such a horrific, regrettable, and shocking incident,” affirmed the Iranian president voicing disappointment over the lack of action from international community.

He called upon neighboring countries of Myanmar, like China and Bangladesh to step forward in helping the displaced people.
