TEHRAN, Aug. 27 (MNA) - A fire has caused an explosion at a weapons depot in a military unit in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

"The fire broke out at a weapons depot in a military unit. The explosion occurred as a result of the incident," the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry's press service said on Sunday.

At present, there is no information about persons killed and injured, Interfax reported.

Meanwhile, local media said citing eyewitnesses that the explosion had occurred in a military unit in the Siyazan district in northern Azerbaijan.

People are currently being evacuated from surrounding territories. The Baku-Quba motorway is fully closed.
