TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (MNA) – Japan’s Minister of Economy Hiroshige Sekō stressed Tokyo’s plans for developing economic cooperation with Iran and providing the necessary supports in this regard.

Hiroshige Sekō, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, made the remarks in a Wednesday meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, who is Tokyo as head of a delegation.

During the meeting, the Japanese minister extended his congratulations over the re-election of Hassan Rouhani as Iran’s president, highlighting his country’s resolve to further boost bilateral relations with Iran during Rouhani’s second term.

Sekō also voiced Japan’s strong support to the successful implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal, dubbed JCPOA.

Araghchi, for his part, thanked Japan for their supportive stance toward the nuclear deal, adding “following the implementation of JCPOA, newer opportunities for cooperation have been presented to the two countries and conditions are ripe for expanding bilateral relations in various fields.”

The Iranian diplomat stressed that the nuclear deal is strongly supported by the international community, and the UN Security Council, the European Union and the majority of the global community demand all sides to the deal to remain fully committed to their obligations.

He further noted his various meetings with representatives from Japanese companies and banks, calling for financial support from Japan’s government for activities of Japanese businesses in Iran.

At the end of the meeting, Sekō invited Iran to take part in Osaka Expo 2025, and expressed hope for an opportunity to visit Tehran in the near future.
