TEHRAN, Aug. 08 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani announced the formation of Iran-Latin America joint work group which will pave the way for developing cooperation.

Larijani made the remarks Monday in a meeting with the head of Mercosur, Latin American Parliament Arlindo Chinaglia.

Larijani underlines that the Islamic Republic highly regards countries of Latin America, especially Mercosur economic bloc.

Stressing the need for development of relations with Latin American countries, Larijani expressed the hope that the two sides would work to enhance economic and trade cooperation after the nuclear deal and removal of sanctions.

He reiterated that the positive effect of development of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Mercosur is to strengthen political consultations and use the potentials to resolve issues.

Meanwhile, Chinaglia voiced Mercosur's interest in promoting economic and political relations with Iran, adding Mercosur Parliament is willing to broaden economic and political relations with Iran in various areas, and there are good plans for strengthening relations between the two countries.

He welcomed Larijani's proposal to form a working group between the Iranian parliament and the Mercosur, adding that it would pave the way for the development of relations and the strengthening of economic, commercial and political cooperation.
