TEHRAN, Aug. 02 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi emphasized that the Iranian government and nation will stand alongside Afghanistan to end the aggression ongoing in the country.

Condemning the terrorist attack on a Shia mosque in western Afghanistan, Ghasemi expressed condolences to the government and nation of Afghanistan and the bereaved families of the victims.

“After decades of sufferings and grieves of the oppressed people of Afghanistan, it is time for the countries of the region and international organizations and institutions along with the Afghan government and nation to make their determination to end the current violent situation; in this way, the government and the Iranian nation will always stand next to Afghan brothers and sisters,” he noted.

The mosque was stormed during evening prayers Tuesday, torn asunder by grenades and a suicide bomber's detonated vest. By the time the scene had settled at the place of worship, at least 29 people were killed and dozens more were injured.
