TEHRAN, Jul. 24 (MNA) – Iran’s Parl. Speaker Ali Larijani vowed the Islamic Republic’s continued support to Iraq in combating terrorism and restoring the country’s damaged infrastructures.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Irfan al-Hayali on Sunday in Tehran.

During the meeting, Larijani voiced Iran’s support for unity among all parties and ethnic groups in Iraq, adding “we believe that all groups must stand together at political and governmental arenas and do not allow enemies to intervene in the future of their country. If it weren’t for the political conflicts in Iraq, ISIL would have never had a chance in that country.”

Larijani also highlighted the need for unity among the people and government of Iraq, saying plots for partitioning Iraq is not beneficial to the Arab country. He further warned about Israel’s plans for preventing the restoration of peace and security to the region.

The Iraqi minister of defense, for his part, stressed that his country would not allow any political side to partition Iraq, adding that Iraq would make efforts to build a better future for its people.

He also maintained that the People's Mobilization Forces (PMF) is operating within the boundaries of law and appointed by the Parliament, therefore they will not be put aside in the future of Iraq.

Al-Hayali further thanked Iran for its friendly cooperation, calling for the expansion of relations between the two countries.
